No, based on what you wrote it sounds like the interview went fine. It's good to be able to approach people, especially in the retail industry. I work at abercrombie and had to do something similar for my interview. Also, if they say they're going to to a background check, that's a good thing. They wouldn't go so far as to do the check if they weren't considering you for the position.
