Swimming with your period?

i have heard it is from so many people, but i asked my doctor and he said its not, it looks like it has stopped because most of the blood is being dissolved into the water, if you have a really heavy flow though, chances are it is still visible in the water. to be safe i would wear a tampon or not go swimming, some of my friends go anyways but to tell you the truth i find it a little gross. i even know some people who wear panty liners in their swim suits, but i would recommend tampons just because it seems more respectful to the other swimmers. lol. hope that helpss :)
