Crush Called Me Ugly?

Had a crush on him for about a month and were mates and we have done some random things eg. did the irish dance together :D spanked me, complinated my drawings etc. He had a girlfriend then. But now, he just came up to me and said 'Your really ugly you know that?' I just said 'Thats a nice thing to say'. He sometimes does this to my friend and other people too - but not always ugly. After, we were fine like, me and my mate were talkin about goin swimmin and he said 'can i come? I wanted to take my cousin'. He showed me his drawings we talked abit too. why did he call me ugly? hes my mate! dont tell me to find a new crush pls. thanks
